Garrett Nussmeier threw three touchdown passes and ran another score, and No. 3 LSU had a breakout offensive performance in a 56-10 victory against FCS Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La.Nussmeier completed 25 of 31 passes for 273 yards, and the Tigers (4-0), who hadn't scored more than 23 points in any of their first three games, scored touchdowns on eight consecutive possessions. LSU had four rushing touchdowns after totaling two in the first three games.Carson Camp passed for 87 yards, Kyle Lowe passed for 29 yards, and the Lions (2-2) totaled just 210 total yards.The Tigers' first possession of the third quarter ended with Nussmeier throwing a 23-yard touchdown pass to Bauer Sharp for a 42-0 lead. On the ensuing possession Camp threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Deantre Jackson, leaving the score 42-7 at the end of the third quarter.Michael Van Buren Jr. replaced Nussmeier and ran one yard for a touchdown on the fourth play of the fourth quarter. He added a 27-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Parker and wound up completing 10 of 12 passes for 122 yards.Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez kicked a 37-yard field goal for the Lions to complete the scoring.The Tigers needed 13 plays to drive 45 yards on their second possession, which ended with Nussmeier's 1-yard touchdown run giving them a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.On LSU's next possession Nussmeier converted a fourth and 11 with a 17-yard completion to Zavion Thomas, and two plays later Ju'Juan Johnson ran 2 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead.Nussmeier threw a 25-yard completion to Aaron Anderson and scrambled 26 yards, setting up Johnson's 10-yard touchdown run and a 21-0 lead with 8:19 left in the half.
Another touchdown for Nussmeier, this time a 17-yard touchdown pass to Barion Brown, and then Tigers made it five touchdowns in five possessions when Nussmeier threw a 9-yard scoring pass to Thomas with 15 seconds left, increasing the lead to 35-0 at the half.--Field Level Media
