Chicago Stars FC signed rookie defender Justina Gaynor to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
The former Michigan State standout's deal also includes a mutual option for the 2026 season.
'We're happy to have Justina join the Stars,' general manager Richard Feuz said in a news release. 'Before receiving a full invitation to preseason, our coaches and scouting team invited various talented players to a combine with our coaches. After impressing there, Justina took advantage of her opportunity and continued to stand out this preseason. I look forward to watching her continued growth with the Stars.'
Gaynor tallied 17 goals and 20 assists in 83 matches (76 starts) over four years with the Spartans (2021-24). She made the All-Big Ten first team in 2022 and 2023.
Chicago opens the 2025 NWSL season on the road Friday against the defending champion Orlando Pride.
