Another Midwest heat wave puts our longball focus on a few big bats in the middle of the map on Friday night.
The Detroit Tigers have three players with 20-plus homers entering the second game in this four-game series in Minneapolis, and the weekend matchups are looking favorable for the American League Central leaders.
Here's a look at our picks for HR prop bets on Aug. 15:
Tigers OF Kerry Carpenter (at Twins, 8:10 p.m. ET)
Pierson Ohl (0-2, 7.15 ERA) starts Friday for Minnesota. The rookie right-hander faced the Tigers on Aug. 6, when he allowed four runs and struck out three in 2 2/3 innings during a no-decision. Carpenter not only is seeing the ball well with three multi-hit games this week, he tagged Ohi for a homer in their previous encounter and has 21 this season.
Carpenter was +285 to hit a home run at FanDuel on Friday morning. His odds at DraftKings were +255.
Royals C Salvador Perez (vs. White Sox, 8:10 p.m. ET)
Perez has four hits in 16 career at-bats facing White Sox starter Aaron Civale with one home run and one double.
With 21 home runs this season, Perez digs in against Civale, who was lit up for nine runs by the Guardians his last time out. Perez has 13 home runs against the White Sox over the past five seasons.
He was +370 (FanDuel) and +390 (DraftKings) to homer against the White Sox.
Padres OF Fernando Tatis Jr. (at Los Angeles Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET)
All eyes are on the fight for first in the NL West this weekend after San Diego jumped ahead of the Dodgers in the division race.
There are countless recommendations for Shohei Ohtani (+135 at FanDuel) and Manny Machado (+300) to go yard, but we're fixated on Tatis. He has 17 home runs this season and 19 home runs in 68 career games against the Dodgers.
Tatis was +380 to hit his 18th of the season at FanDuel.
