Azzi Fudd sank seven 3-pointers and scored 21 points as No. 1 UConn held on for a 72-69 win over No. 6 Michigan in the Hall of Fame Women's Showcase on Friday in Uncasville, Conn.
Sarah Strong added 16 points, 20 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and three steals for the Huskies (5-0).
UConn led by 10 with 2:41 to play but consecutive baskets from Michigan's Olivia Olson and three late 3-pointers from Syla Swords pulled the Wolverines within 70-69 with 13 seconds left. Fudd made two foul shots with eight seconds remaining, and Michigan never got off a shot for the tie.
Swords scored 29 points and drained eight treys for the Wolverines (4-1). Olson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 24 Notre Dame 61, No. 11 Southern California 59
Hannah Hidalgo's pull-up from off the right elbow fell with two seconds to go, and the Fighting Irish toppled the Trojans in South Bend, Ind.
Hidalgo finished with 22 points and seven rebounds and helped Notre Dame (4-1) turn the game in its favor with a 15-8 fourth quarter. The Irish trailed 59-57 in the final minute before KK Bransford made the tying layup and USC missed a shot at the other end.
Vanessa de Jesus added 13 points and four assists and Bransford compiled 11 points and eight rebounds for Notre Dame. Kara Dunn provided 21 points to lead USC (3-2), while Jazzy Davidson put up 14 points and eight boards.
No. 17 Vanderbilt 92, Alabama State 38
Aga Makurat scored 21 points off the bench and Mikayla Blakes added 19, fueling the Commodores to a romp over the Lady Hornets in Nashville, Tenn.
Makurat sank 8 of 15 shots -- including 5 of 11 from 3-point range -- to pace the Commodores (5-0), who led 50-22 at halftime. Vanderbilt kept its foot on the gas by outscoring the Lady Hornets (1-5) by a 27-6 margin in the third quarter.
Sacha Washington had 11 points and seven rebounds and Ava Black had 11 and six, respectively, for the Commodores.
Amari Franklin, Taylor Smith and Kaitlyn Bryant each had nine points for Alabama State.
