Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard will miss the final two games of the team's ongoing three-city road trip and return to L.A. as he deals with a left knee contusion.
Leonard did not play in Friday's 121-117 overtime victory against the Toronto Raptors. According to the Clippers, Leonard has dealt with residual discomfort after sustaining the contusion in a Jan. 10 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
A six-time All-Star, Leonard was in one of the best scoring stretches of his career. After a brutal start to the season, the Clippers are 12-2 since Dec. 20 and Leonard averaged 32.7 points per game in that span.
Officially listed as day-to-day, Leonard will be reassessed when the team returns home to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. The Clippers close out the current road trip with visits to the Washington Wizards on Monday and the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
Leonard, 34, missed 10 games earlier this season with ankle and foot injuries. He has averaged 28.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals over 30 games.
In 14 seasons, Leonard has scored 20.4 points with 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals. He won NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014 and the Raptors in 2019 but missed the entire 2021-22 season with the Clippers as he recovered from a partial ACL tear in his right knee.
