Alex DeBrincat scored 1:50 into overtime, giving the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday afternoon.
DeBrincat scored from the right side for Detroit's third win in four games. Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider each had a goal and an assist, while Lucas Raymond contributed the team's other goal. Patrick Kane had two assists and Cam Talbot stopped 31 shots.
Zach Werenski had a goal and assist for Columbus. Adam Fantilli and Miles Wood also scored, while Jet Greaves stopped 29 shots.
The Red Wings dominated the first 10 minutes but couldn't beat Greaves. Penalties against Travis Hamonic and Ben Chiarot soon gave the Blue Jackets a 5-on-3 power play, and they capitalized.
Fantilli, who scored the game winner in overtime against Toronto on Thursday, took a shot from the left circle that beat Talbot on the stick side. Werenski and Sean Monahan had the assists.
The teams scored 18 seconds apart in the first minute of the second period. Raymond took advantage of a Columbus turnover in its own zone and beat Greaves with a backhander.
Columbus quickly regained the lead, 2-1, when Wood redirected Denton Mateychuk's shot from the point past Talbot. Damon Severson also was credited with an assist.
Detroit challenged the goal on the grounds of goaltender interference. It was disallowed, and the Red Wings had to kill of a two-minute penalty. When the Red Wings' J.T. Compher and Blue Jackets' Brendan Gaunce got tangled up at 8:09 of the third, both players were sent to the penalty box. Columbus scored during the 4-on-4 situation. Ivan Provorov's pass from the right circle set up Werenski's goal. Cole Sillinger had the second assist.
Chiarot scored from the slot with 9:37 remaining to cut the Blue Jackets' lead to 3-2. Kane and Seider picked up the assists.
Seider tied it with 6:35 left just after a Columbus penalty expired with a shot from the point. Emmitt Finnie and Nate Danielson collected the assists.
